Purple sticking mulberries, plump and shiny, making my fingers look like I’ve dunked them in a hearty red wine. A robin chirps at me for stealing some of her stash but I remind her she can fly and I can’t and all the fruits of all the top branches are hers. I’m a land creature and reach only slightly taller than my ladder, even though when I’m picking berries off this tree, my spirits float much higher.
