Hole in the World
June 24, 2026
I found a hole in the world.
Maybe it needs mending. Ooooor maybe it’s the sky that’s always been there, and the bricks blocking it have just started to fall away.
Maybe you can wish into it?
Maybe it’s a portal of potent possibilities, and I could toss a little hope forwards or backwards in time.
Or maybe it’s a small blue and white reminder that an idea and a bit of chalk are surprisingly powerful. A way to teleport to What Ifs and Maybes. Because everyone who visits steps carefully around this. And not just like they’re trying not to smudge it, but as though maaaaaybe it’s not entirely impossible to go through…
⛅⛅⛅ This chalk-based magic could not exist without the incredible David Zinn This is my attempt to copy of one of his incredible pieces, which I had open as reference while I drew. I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile, and have his book on special order at the bookshop, but in the meantime I had chalk, impatience, and some time on a Saturday.
The drawing charcoal I used is homemade from wild grapevine 🌱 In late summer the wild grape makes us jelly, and with winter’s fires it makes us clouds.
